Kei Hiraga
Man and Woman
ROOM #2606
We started activities in the art field at Bunkyo ward in Tokyo in 1982 and opened a gallery, BUNKYO ART, in 1988. The gallery moved to Yaesu in 2000 and to Hacchobori in Minato ward in 2010 where we established the contemporary art section, FUMA Contemporary Tokyo. Since inaugurating the gallery, we have introduced the works by the post-war artists such as Key Hiraga, Tatsuo Ikeda, Hiroshi Nakamura, Kuniyoshi Kaneko, Jiro Oyamada, Masao Tsuruoka and others who are famed as avant-garde artists who represented Japan in the 1950s and ‘60s. Furthermore, we have provided museums nation-wide with excellent works up to now and have collaborated with the museums whenever they would have needed our support and cooperation in exhibitions. We have attempted to act on behalf of the above artists in order to pass down their beliefs in art. Therefore, we are trying to discover promising young artists who we may be able to cultivate and introduce to the art scene. Meanwhile, we have constantly participated in national and international art fairs to promote and represent their works and let them have chances for a solo exhibition and experiences in the international art scene. We believe that we have contributed to activate Japanese art sustainably.
